California Fires Update from State Deputy

Knights around the country send support to Wildfire victims

My Brother Knights The NEED is NOW

There are fires all over California

As of this morning, November 26, 2018 the Camp and Woolsey fires are 100% contained. However, many of our Brother Knights are still under evacuations orders for many fire areas. With cold weather and rain, they need our prayers more than ever.

Please watcher over our older brothers and their families. They are more vulnerable to the elements. Make calls or visit them to see if they are doing well and with family.

Please call or visit a brother knight and his family. A visit and a little compassionate communication goes a long way.

How can your council help right now?

Most of the Brothers in council 7773 lost their homes to the fire. Right now, if your council wishes to help Brother Knights in the fire areas. Please make a $10 per council member donation to the:

California Columbian Charities
P.O. Box 4256

Cerritos, CA 90703

St. Thomas More Catholic Church after the Camp Fire.

For around the area of Paradise, all area councils, District Deputies and Chapters. This is a full callout for
Brother helping Brother, help by donations of N-95 Face Mask, Shoes with hard Soles and Utility Gloves

For Councils out of the area of the fires, this is how your council can help. You may have lots of used clothing.
Here is an idea a, “Council Yard Sale” with all proceeds going to fire relief by way of California Columbian Charities.

Do not send used clothing to the area the distribution organizations cannot take the clothes anymore.

TO ALL BROTHER KNIGHTS. Please pray for all the first responders on site, for the families who are in harm's way. As day and weeks go by, our parishes and brother knights will need our help. Please be ready to assist in any way needed.

Thank You & God Bless & Be Safe

NOTE: St Thomas More Parish (Paradise) web site has pictures of the damage to the parish. There is also information about volunteering to help with the relief efforts. It will be updated as further details become available.

Council 1137 and Council 13765 in Chico are helping Paradise Council 7773 with their recovery efforts. The Chapter has already donated funds to the Council to support our Brother Knights. Other councils in our Chapter are also donating funds directly to the council.

Also, St Vincent DePaul Society has boots on the ground in Chico for support. They are looking for volunteers to a help with their relief efforts. Contact PCP Jim Currlin at for additional information.

Contributions will be used for direct assistance to Brother Knights who have lost their homes, direct aid to Paradise Council 7773 to replace articles destroyed in the fire and sustain operations, and general humanitarian aid to fire victims, first responders and those effected by the fire.

At this time, evacuation centers have been overwhelmed by donations of used clothing and no more is being accepted. Contributions of new clothing (including Coats for Kids) may be dropped of at a depot established by the Salvation Army at the former Koret Warehouse and Distribution Center at the Chico Municipal Airport, 1100 Marauder Street, Chico, CA 95973. It is asked all contributions of clothing be coordinated through the Paradise and/or Chico councils.

Again, as you learn of any confirmed losses please notify the President of California Columbian Charities, Stephen Peterson, who is copied on this message, Second Responders Chairman Joseph Galbraith, or our State Secretary David Abbott. I am grateful for the continuing assistance provided by agents of the Cabral Agency and Owens Agency who have worked tirelessly to contact and assist Brother Knights effected by this crisis.

May God bless the fire fighters, first responders and all those effected by these fires in this most difficult time,
